RELIC - Real-time Electronics and Integrated Circuits
Mission statement
- RELIC aims to be a regional knowledge centre in the domain of electronics and the design of integrated circuits with specific operational demands or operating conditions where existing commercial components offer no viable solution. These demands may arise in different areas like a strict timing, or the reliability under harsh operating conditions like extreme temperatures, the presence of noise, electromagnetic interference or even nuclear radiation.
- RELIC aims to be the primary research contact in electronics for technological SME's in the Kempen and in this way contribute to the further economic and social development of the region.
- RELIC strives for the highest technological and scientific level and aims to put the research at the K.H.Kempen also in the spotlight internationally. This is achieved through a broad national and international cooperation and through active participation in top conferences in the field.
- RELIC wants to offer young engineering students the opportunity to be involved in industrially relevant highly technological research through a M.Sc. thesis project. RELIC contributes in this way to the training towards master of applied engineering at the K.H.Kempen.
Goals
RELIC realises its mission through the following strategic goals.
- RELIC offers electronic design expertise to reginal, national and international companies.
- RELIC is working together with regional and national research centres and universities with complementary expertise.
- RELIC offers young engineers the chance to work towards a PhD as research assistant in cooperation with K.U.Leuven.
- RELIC offers young engineering students the chance to work on a master thesis within the group.
These goals are represented in several research projects.
